Jones Continues to Protect Sanctity of Life

Press Release

Date: Jan. 19, 2018
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Abortion

Today, Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) continued his fight to protect life and the unborn by voting for H.R. 4712, the Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act. This legislation, introduced by Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn (TN-7), would make it a crime for a health care provider to kill or let a baby die if the baby survived an attempted abortion.

"Taking a life is always wrong, but it is truly unconscionable that a health care practitioner would kill or allow a living, breathing baby to die before their eyes," said Congressman Jones. "Today as we mark the 45th annual March for Life in Washington, we must stand together to protect the unborn and restore the sanctity of life. The Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act is just a start."

H.R. 4712 passed the House of Representatives with a vote of 241-183, and now heads to the Senate for further consideration.

Congressman Jones is a senior member of the Pro-Life Caucus and has been an unwavering advocate of legislation to protect the rights of the unborn throughout his tenure in Congress.
